    New Life
In today's message, Pastor Jeff discussed being part of the story of life. Orpah and Mr Mish-Mash (the Redeemer in Ruth Chapter 4) wrote themselves out of the story. Ruth, Boaz and Naomi continued to be a part of the story. We too need to work to continue to be part of God's story as we move through life.

DisGrace On the Threshing Room Floor
Today, Pastor Alison spoke about risks that may have to be taken in order to have a relationship with God or even with others. Often, like Boaz and Ruth, we get stuck in difficult times or what seems like impossible situations. With grace, we will be able to make it through those times and by taking risks, we may also find a way out.

    Unheard of
Today, Pastor Jeff discussed the unusual actions of Boaz after meeting Ruth. He went out of his way to treat Ruth differently than the others who gleaned from his land because of her actions toward Naomi. Much like him, we most also consider doing things that are unheard of. Customs and courtesies are in place, but going against the norm can often be just as rewarding.

    Crossroads
Today Pastor Jeff regaled of with the story of Ruth, Naomi and Orpah. These three ladies go on a journey to Bethlehem to find food after losing their spouses. Naomi tells the two young women during the journey to leave her and go back home. Orpah decides to take her advice. Ruth refuses and continues on with Naomi.  In our lives, are we Orpah, who took the safe road, or like Ruth, who took the risky route?

Which? (Which is the Greatest Commandment of them all?) – 11:00am
    Series: FIVE
This week (April 24th), Pastor Alison  and presented us with the third segment of the FIVE series called:

"Which? - Which commandment is the most important of them all?"

In this presentation, Pastor Alison focused on the difficulties we face in loving as God commanded us. First and foremost, we must define what we ourselves see love as. Then we must find where we fall short in following the commandments "Love the Lord your God with all your being, with all your mind and with all your strength & "Love your neighbor as yourself." While these may seem simple to us, all of the situations in our lives make it very difficult. However, we must work toward doing our best to do just what God has asked us - love everyone!

    Further Reflection:
    1. What does it mean to love?

    2. When do I fall short of this commandment?
How can I work on my shortcomings?

FIVE – What? (What do I need to do to gain Eternal Life?)
    Series: FIVE
In the second installment of the FIVE series, Pastor Alison takes a look at what we as Christians need to do in order to gain eternal life.

What takes precedence in our lives? The Children’s Sermon answer is always “Jesus!,” but sometimes our lives and our choices don’t reflect that answer. Faced with choices, the man in our scripture today was confronted with this reality by none other than Jesus.

Where do we spend most of our time, our money, our thoughts, our worries, our energy? Perhaps there is truly our answer. Or ask yourselves, “What is the one thing we wouldn’t want Jesus asking us to leave behind in order to follow him?” Perhaps that is our answer.

What is it that takes precedence in our lives? How can we move closer to answering “Jesus!”?

How can we move closer to following Jesus?

    Questions for Reflection:

What do you think Jesus would ask you to leave behind?

What steps will you take this week, this month, and this year to leave it behind and follow Jesus?

This week (April 10th), Pastor Jeff began a new sermon series called “FIVE” and presented us with the first segment of the series called:

“How (How Can I Do That)”
In this presentation, Pastor Jeff utilized the words of Pumba to Simba in Disney’s The Lion King   – “You gotta put your behind in the past” along with the story of Jesus and Nicodemus to discuss how like a behind, we all have a past. This past shapes us, influences us, and may even dictate our behavior.
Pastor Jeff also encouraged us to consider our past as we look toward our future with the risen Christ.

    Further Reflection:
    1. In what ways are you still living in the past?

    2. How will you stop living yesterday today?
