We are pleased to announce that Pastor Alan McGrath, currently of Hutto Discovery United Methodist Church, will be our new Senior Pastor – his first Sunday with us will be January 7th, 2018!

We look forward to welcoming him, as well as his wife Traci, and their two boys, Pax and Beckett into our church family!

Pastor Alan would like to share this message with the congregation:

It is such an honor to be appointed as your new senior pastor. Over the past couple of weeks, I have heard your stories and learned of your programs reaching out to serve the Killeen area with the love of Jesus Christ. Being honest, I’ve been peeking in to see what I can learn about the congregation from a distance; YouTube videos, Facebook posts, and even a few short worship videos shared with me from Pastor Steve. The choir is strong and the praise team is top notch. I can’t wait to join you all for worship in January.

For the past six years, my family has been blessed to live and serve in Hutto. During this time, the Hutto Discovery church patiently and courageously changed their future story as they tackled some large challenges. My family will always hold this congregation close to our hearts as we remember their strong faith and willingness to reach out to their neighbors for Christ.

Entering a new year in Killeen, I will work to continue your long tradition of serving each other and the Killeen area. We will enter into a focused season of listening and discernment as we determine God’s desired future for FUMC Killeen. My hope is to visit each of our classes, groups, programs, and maybe play some dodge ball with the youth. It is my prayer that a deep trust will begin to grow which will allow us to face our future with hope
(I ask you to join me in this prayer).
Our bright future is possible because we serve a mighty God who is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.” (Eph 3:20)

I would like to offer my thanks to Pastors Steve and Alison as they have begun the process of welcoming me to Killeen. Last week, a two hour coffee conversation with Pastor Alison gave me a chance to hear the depth of your many ministries. As she bragged on you to me, I could tell you have a special relationship with her and, in return, she has a deep love for this congregation.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Alan McGrath
