Adult Connections

Adults at First Killeen are active in ministries that are making a difference in our community.  Check out some of the ways you can be involved!

Stephen Ministry

Christ’s healing love to people who are grieving, in crisis, or experiencing other stresses in life.  A Stephen Minister is a trained lay person who listens, cares, and prays with a care receiver.  Individuals complete 50 hours of training before they are commissioned as a Stephen Minister.  Participation in continuing education class provides information and encouragement for each Stephen Minister.  Stephen Ministers do not try to resolve problems for the care receiver.  With confidential encouragement, a care receiver identifies feelings and establishes goals for the faith journey through the stresses in life.    Facilitators Laurel Blair lblair12@hotmail.com

 United Methodist Men

meet in the Fellowship Hall of the church at 7:30 a.m. the 2nd Saturday of every month.  We typically have breakfast and a program. Our overall focus, as we see it, is taken from the General Conference United Methodist Men “…to help others grow to a mature faith in God that moves them to action on behalf of others, especially ‘the least.’” This aspect of “disciple making” is the ultimate goal of all that we do in the church.  As a group, we focus on fun, fellowship and faith in our meetings.   Our projects and our services are needed throughout the church. President is David Hall david.hall@bovislendlease.com

United Methodist Women

is one of the most dynamic aspects of a United Methodist Church.  The UMW has always led from the front line when it comes to the mission of the church.  At FUMC Killeen, we currently have three circles, but have plans to create more in the near future. We have three circles Mary Ruth, Abigail and Anna.

 NEXT Young Adult Social

This group meets each month for fellowship time.  If you are over 18, this is the place for you to meet people who are seeking God and involved in our church! We have a great time sharing social time but also serving our community.   Please contact Tim Marfell at tmarfell@gmail.com for more information.

Military Connections

is a diverse group of people who face the rewards and challenges of being connected to the military and meet together for bible study and       fellowship. We are open to anyone who has direct connections to the military or who would just like to support those who are. We offer two Bible studies that meet once a month. The day Bible study group meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month at 11:45 a.m.  The evening Bible study group meets the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7 p.m.    Both groups get together for an evening of fellowship and fun on the 3rd Friday at 7 p.m.   We currently offer childcare for the Thursday evening Bible study and the Friday group event.  We are looking into childcare for the Tuesday day class. Childcare RSVP’s are due no later than the Monday before the event. For more information, email: fumcmilitaryconnection@yahoo.com
