Marty Portmann

Office Assistant

As the Office Assistant, Marty is usually the first person to welcome visitors to the office and to handle tough questions or to encourage the volunteer of the day to ask for help in dispensing calls to the correct person. This is almost a full-time volunteer position! Marty receives all mail and packages and signs for what is needed, distributes the mail to the pertinent personnel, and assists with folding, stuffing, sorting and mailing of envelopes or materials. She also selects the Stewardship Reader for the 11:00 am service, and sends out letters and reminders to the Usher team each month.

As the Worship Chairman, Marty works with the pastors,
music personnel, communion stewards, pew angels and ushers to make the sanctuary completely ready for whatever service will happen. She also serves as the Wedding Coordinator and Funeral Coordinator helping start new lives together, and seeing that families are able to say goodbye to loved ones in a dignified and meaningful service.

As the Sunday School Coordinator, she sees that class lists are placed in bags and distributed to the various classrooms each Sunday morning – both for the adults and children’s ministries, retrieved at the end of class, and tallied and turned into the Administrative Asst. for compilation for Vital Statistics. As Memorials/Honors Secretary Marty receives all the memorials or honors to members of our church family. Marty’s family consists of her husband of 36 years, Jos Portmann. She has 2 of 3 living daughters, 2 great son-in-law’s, and 8 grandchildren – 6 boys and 2 girls.

Marty’s education includes a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the former Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton, Texas. Marty is a certified Bell County Master Gardener, a member of the Killeen Garden Club, bowls on the Little Vegas bowling league, and volunteers with the Harker Heights Police Department.
