Compassionate Care Ministry

May Our Service to Others Spread Like the Branches of a Tree….
You have heard about our Compassionate Care Ministry in the Week-At-A-Glance, the church bulletin; you have received a postcard in the mail (which I hope you have returned to the church office).
So what is this ministry all about?
You will learn more with each publication of Month-At-A-Glance.
Our ministry is divided into several teams:
Prayer Team, Hospital Visitation Team, JOY (Jesus, Others, You) Team, Homebound Team, Nursing Home Visitation Team, Card Ministry Team, Bereavement Team, Benevolent Team , Stephen Ministry Team.

FUMC-Killeen has a rich heritage of serving and caring for others.  As our church continues to grow, we need additional support for these various areas of ministry.  We need you!

In Mark 10:45, Jesus told His disciples that
….even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, to give His life as a ransom for many.
What a blessing it is to serve others by being the hands and feet of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Blessings,
Pastor Alison

John Wesley reminds us:
“Do all the
good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can!”

Spotlight: Homebound Team

What would you want or need if you were someone who could no longer drive?
Sometimes, it is a listening ear, a call to know someone is thinking of you, or perhaps a simple loaf of bread or cookies, or a trip to pick up other grocery items. Perhaps you would like to have a book, Upper Room Devotional, or Sunday bulletin dropped off.
The Homebound Team does this and so much more!
How can you serve? We have multiple members who benefit from this Team. Do you have a some time once or twice a week or even once a month to bring a little joy to someone’s life? Please think about it.
If you have questions about how you can serve or benefit from any of the Compassionate Care teams, contact Pastor Alison, 254-634-6363 or alison.zollinger@fumc-killeen.org

Prayer Squares
It’s amazing that a prayed upon, small, simple piece of cloth, can give a large amount of comfort. A prayer square is a small square of fabric sewn together with a thin layer of quilt batting and a cross inserted between the layers. They can be carried in your pocket, your purse, sit on your desk or held during a medical procedure.

We are in need of helpers for this ministry. You don’t have to sew to help. If interested please contact Laura Winckel : lauraann@hot.rr.com or 254-681-8239.

Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is a ministry in which people with special gifts for caring ministry can put those gifts to use in an organized way, bringing Jesus’ love and care to those who most need it.

If you know someone who is going through a difficult time, contact one of our Stephen Leaders, Laura Winckel (254-681-8239 or lauraann@hot.rr.com) about Stephen Ministry. Our Stephen Ministers are ready to provide focused, confidential, one-to-one Christian care—to help that person experience the healing power of Christ’s love.

Card Ministry
There are a number of ministries in which you can serve with the Compassionate Care Team. The Card Ministry is always looking for people to write cards for a variety of occasions for our church members and beyond. If you are interested in joining this team, contact Dixie Heinle: dixieheinle@gmail.com

Don’t have time to write but would still like to help? This ministry is also in need of donated cards, envelopes, and stamps!
Donations can be dropped off in the church office during normal business hours.
